Pharmacy residency program

Our one-year, hospital-based pharmacy residency programs give you well-rounded yet challenging instruction in patient-focused care as you complete advanced training in pharmaceutical management.

Our pharmacy programs

We develop your pharmacy knowledge through a rigorous curriculum and a challenging clinical experience where you'll care for patients of all ages who come to us with a broad range of health conditions.

Learning patient-focused care and developing strong clinical skills is at the heart of your residency.

Your training will take place at one of our hospitals:

Rotation

Your core rotation will cover internal medicine, pediatrics, critical care, administration, medication safety, emergency medicine and infectious disease. In addition, you'll be able to pursue your interests through courses, such as oncology, hematology or research.

Resident staffing opportunities

You will be paired with a preceptor who will oversee your staffing learning experience throughout the year. Our goal is to prepare you for independent practice. You will be expected to provide coverage for about one weekend per month according to the schedule of your assigned hospital.

Weekend staffing will initially focus on order verification and distribution services in the main pharmacy and progress to staffing decentralized areas based on resident interest. In addition, residents will staff an average of one 4-hour, weekday evening shift at least twice each month.

Residency stipend and benefits

Our residents are paid a competitive salary for the 1-year residency year (see ASHP residency directory). As a HealthONE associate, residents accrue approximately 20 days of paid time off (PTO) per year; this time can be used for personal days, holidays, job interviews, and/or illness.

Applying to our program

Interested applicants must be PharmD graduates from an accredited school of pharmacy and be eligible for licensure in Colorado.

Applications will be accepted through PhORCAS. See the ASHP residency directory for up-to-date information regarding application deadlines and requirements.
